Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall accountability for enabling BIM, GIS, and digital construction across project disciplines (Design, estimating, planning, construction).
  • To provide leadership, support, and coordination across all technical work streams, during each stage of a project from Design through to construction. Technical work streams may include but are not limited to; all engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management, and industrialization.
  • Ensure delivery of BIM and GIS in accordance with Aecon's IDD BIM-related processes and procedures and support the IDD Director with the future developments.
  • Ensure the right resourcing profile for the IDD team's on the project, based on the BIM goals set in the bid phase.
  • The role will manage the link between the Client's BIM representatives, the consultant BIM team, Aecon (and any JV partner) and any subcontractors' BIM team. The role will support the project Technical director's to enable BIM outcomes to ensure the information is delivered to programme and coordinated between engineering disciplines, organizations, and packages.
  • Ensure BIM the BIM requirements set on the project support digital integrating across all project functions.
  • To ensure validation reports to verify Information Models in accordance with ISO 19650 and the Institute for BIM in Canada toolkit.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Education and industry experience requirements include; Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus experience/knowledge of Civil Construction practice.
  • 2-3 years' experience on large Infrastructure BIM Implementation experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience working with and knowledge of BIM Standards (ISO 19650/Institute of BIM in Canada).
  • 2-3 years' experience with model federation platforms such as Assemble Systems, Navisworks, and Bentley Navigator.
  • 2-3 years' experience in the implementation of Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise and Aconex.
  • Detailed understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Experience across all stages of a project lifecycle.
  • Experience of working within construction project environments.
  • Experience of large complex projects in infrastructure would be desirable.
  • Understanding design and construction phases and alignment with the Digital Plan of Works.
  • On-site construction experience would be desirable.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills are essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills, a passion for problem ownership, and a customer-first attitude.
  • Proven experience in priority setting, multitasking, and working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Bilingual (French and English) would be desirable.
  • Ability to travel to site, mobile for projects.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $110,000 to $125,000 annually.
  • Work 37.5 hours/week.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Primary work location at 20 Carlson Court Toronto, Ontario M9W 7K6 with work and travel required throughout Canada.
  • Project, training, and business-related travel may be required.
  • Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.
  • Relocation within Canada may be required. Relocation costs covered by employer.
