Job Title: Housekeeping & Laundry Aid

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping & Laundry Aid to join our Transitional Care Centre team in Bedford, Nova Scotia. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, dust, and wet mop floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Dust, clean, and polish furniture, counters, shelving, walls, window/door ledges, and casings
  • Clean sinks, toilets, and bath facilities using prescribed cleaning solutions
  • Ensure garbage and recycling are disposed of in proper locations
  • Buff and auto-scrub floors using floor machines and cleaning solutions
  • Fills and replenishes supplies in patient rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms as required
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pick-up area
  • Assembles, moves, delivers, sets up, and picks up furniture, supplies, and equipment as required
  • Promotes a safety culture by continuously working safely and identifying and reporting hazards

Requirements:

  • 1 year of environmental services experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous experience working in housekeeping and/or laundry and working in a long-term care environment
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner
  • High level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated responsible behavior and attention to detail
  • Responds appropriately to supervision and follows policies
