Furniture Specifier Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Furniture Specifier to join our team at Recruitment By Design. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our outside sales teams in the growth and maintenance of their accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the creation of comprehensive project budgets and schedules by junior team members on team projects.
  • Incorporate and fully consider any changes to budgets, including how they may impact the final product and the client's overall satisfaction.
  • Work to and meet project timelines and maintain critical schedules throughout all phases of the project using approved technology.
  • Communicate with all team members, including sub-consultants, contractors, and Connect team members, which includes design, furniture, finance, and operations departments.
  • Carefully assemble and coordinate construction documents for permit, tender, and construction phases of projects.
  • Collaborate in the development of concept design through planning, sketching, rendering, and the sourcing of specialty finishes.
  • Coordinate furniture selections with space plan and working drawings package to ensure seamless and efficient execution of the entire scope of the project.
  • Creation and implementation of furniture installation drawings.
  • Prepare the required documents for the coordination and oversight of move management and move supervision for furniture and workplace services projects and issue to the project leads.
  • Maintain all project files/job folders according to corporate standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant North American interior design experience in commercial design.
  • Superb space planning and detailing skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials applications and detailing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal in the English language.
  • Highly motivated individual who works independently.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and amicable manner.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD (version 2015 or higher), REVIT, CET Designer (Configura), and MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Illustrator, and Sketch-up).
