Accounting Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join our team at Baker Tilly Canada Cooperative. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for leading assurance and non-assurance engagements, supervising junior staff, and developing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead consulting engagements and identify client service opportunities
  • Supervise and develop junior staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Complete corporate and personal income tax returns, meeting deadlines and quality standards
  • Identify and resolve engagement issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Train and mentor junior staff, promoting professional development and growth
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Support practice and professional development initiatives, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of the CFE or working towards a CPA designation
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in accounting, with public practice experience preferred
  • Interest in managing and developing others, with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with Caseware, Profile, Sage 300, Sage 50, and QuickBooks is valued, with strong Microsoft Office skills particularly in MS Excel
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deliverables, adhering to time and budget constraints
