About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of aircraft modification and repair projects, from normal to transport category fixed and rotary wing. As a Structural Assessment Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments. You will also build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural analysis, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments
- Build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and running solutions
- Define and establish inspection programs based on fatigue and damage tolerance assessments
- Sizing of structural components, parts, and assemblies from a static stress and fatigue point of view
- Determination of fatigue allowable stress levels for sizing
- Support the structural design process to ensure required quality for fatigue and damage tolerance is achieved
- Work on individual projects/tasks or as part of a group
- Preparation of engineering and airworthiness documentation
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in a technical engineering role supporting aircraft development, modifications, and/or repairs
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Candidates with highly applicable experience (5 years) will be considered in lieu of engineering degree
- Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards from Transport Canada, FAA, and/or EASA is preferred
- Knowledge and direct experience in Design Approval Organization (DAO) activities is preferred
- Experience with CAD software (Solidworks and AutoCAD software packages is preferred)
- Experience and familiarity with aircraft structures and static stress analysis
- Knowledge and experience in Finite Element Modelling Software packages (i.e., FEMAP/NASTRAN) and Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Software packages (i.e., NASGRO)
- Experience in preparation of engineering reports
- Experience with aircraft procedures and publications such as AMM, SRM, AFM, IPC, scheduled maintenance, etc.
