Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Technician to join our Information Technology Services department at the City of St. Albert.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform data capture, updates, and maintenance to support the City's corporate GIS functions.
  • Provide GIS client support, data manipulation, and apply cartographic principles to design high-quality maps.
  • Support Emergency Services by preparing and updating data for utilization by 9-1-1, dispatch, and maps.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or a related discipline with two years of experience or a post-secondary diploma in Geographic Information Systems, or Geography with four years of experience in Esri ArcGIS.
  • Experience and fluency in ESRI products, including editing data, performing analysis, and producing maps, preferably in government operations.
  • Hands-on experience gathering requirements, preparing, and updating high-quality maps.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of spatial data maintenance, including creating, updating, quality checking, and metadata. Experience working with imagery is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of web mapping applications for mobile data collection and update, including gathering requirements, design, implementation, training, and support.
  • Sound communication skills and a focus on customer service excellence.

  • A competitive salary range of $64,602 - $79,509 per annum.

  • A compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
