Job Description

Job Summary:

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly qualified Professor of Environmental Sustainability to teach a part-time course in the Winter 2025 semester. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental sustainability and experience in teaching and research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a part-time course in environmental sustainability
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the course
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Contribute to the development of the university's environmental sustainability program

Requirements:

  • PhD in a field related to environmental sustainability
  • Significant work experience in the systematic assessment and evaluation of research evidence
  • Significant work experience in weight of evidence evaluation
  • Significant experience in the translation of scientific evidence into policy recommendations and/or the use of scientific evidence in decision-making in a legislative, regulatory or policy context

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching a university-level course that explicitly involves the assessment and evaluation of scientific evidence from diverse domains of inquiry
  • Experience with evidence provided by non-western science knowledge systems, e.g. indigenous knowledge
