Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead our infrastructure projects in Quebec, Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical and instrumentation aspects of our projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure they are fair and competitive.
  • Manage contract administration, including subcontractor and field management meetings to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain positive client relationships, including regular meetings and site visits.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure projects are on track financially.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Maintain daily diaries for record-keeping purposes and ensure all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to general foreman level.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 8+ years in an electrical superintendent or leadership capacity, preferably on infrastructure or hydroelectric projects.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision, highly motivated and results-driven.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility across provinces in Canada is required.

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
