Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing electrical projects and ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure they are fair and competitive.
  • Manage contract administration, including coordinating with subcontractors and field staff to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain strong client relationships, including regular communication and problem-solving.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure projects are on track financially.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, including ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain a daily diary for record-keeping purposes and ensure all performance evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for direct reports.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes as needed to improve operations and efficiency.
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to general foreman level.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 8+ years in an electrical superintendent or leadership role (preferably on infrastructure, industrial, or hydroelectric projects).
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility across provinces in Canada is required.
  • Ability to work at various locations and adapt to changing conditions.
