We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Anesthesia Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing clinical and technical support in the pre-operative areas, operating rooms, and post-anesthesia care units.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical support to anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals in the administration of anesthesia care to patients.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Participate in the clinical management of patients, including monitoring vital signs and responding to emergencies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to patient care and anesthesia administration.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists or eligible for registration.
- Completion of an Anesthesia Assistant certification required.
- CSRT membership with CCAA designation considered an asset.
- Minimum of two years experience as a respiratory therapist preferred.
- Previous experience in the operating room area an asset.
- Degree preferred; previous anesthesia courses an asset.
- Current BLS-C (HCP) and ACLS is required.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
The Anesthesia Assistant must be capable of repositioning anesthesia equipment and supplies when required. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong communication and teamwork skills.
