About the Opportunity

The Anesthesia Assistant plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality patient care in the operating room and perioperative areas. Reporting to the Manager - Department of Anesthesia, this individual will provide clinical and technical support to anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the safe and efficient administration of anesthesia care to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals in the preparation and administration of anesthesia care
  • Monitor and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies
  • Participate in the clinical management of patients, including vital sign monitoring and documentation
  • Collaborate with the anesthesia team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists or eligible for registration
  • Completion of an Anesthesia Assistant certification required
  • CSRT membership with CCAA designation considered an asset
  • Minimum of two years experience as a respiratory therapist preferred
  • Current BLS-C (HCP) and ACLS is required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Working Conditions

The Anesthesia Assistant will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills. The ability to work effectively in a team, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail is essential. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

What We Offer

Nova Scotia Health offers a competitive salary range of $40.81 - $51.31 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a $10,000 signing bonus with a defined Return of Service contract.
