Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Control Consultant to join our team at CNA. As a key member of our commercial mid-market team, you will be responsible for performing a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform onsite/remote property and casualty risk assessments and consultative risk improvement services, making risk recommendations for the underwriting function, including suggesting solutions to customers to minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with senior risk control staff to assess program needs and implement customized strategies.
  • Partner with underwriting and other areas to provide information for risk evaluation and assessment, including reviewing accounts for operational issues, claims, profitability, and agency management.
  • Conduct root cause loss analysis with rating and trending of losses for key accounts.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Deliver technical resources and training programs as required.
  • Identify opportunities for new products and services.
  • Provide expertise in one or more specialty areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including special projects and presentations.
Requirements
  • Solid technical and product-specific expertise, risk control evaluation, and assessment skills, as well as knowledge of insurance and risk control principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of applicable NFPA standards and codes, as well as FM data sheets.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of premises operations, product liability exposures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, including strong time management, with the ability to work independently.
  • Customer-focused with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with professional designations preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of progressive insurance experience in property and casualty, with a proven track record of results.
