Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Risk Consultant to join our team in Toronto. Our Technology Risk Services practice provides a range of services to clients, and we are looking for talented professionals like you to help us deliver exceptional results.

Job Description

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with clients and audit teams to conduct risk assessments and control evaluations, primarily in the Asset Management and Financial Services sectors.
  • Perform engagements within the context of supporting external audits, IT internal audits, or SOC attestation engagements, assessing business and IT-related controls in large transformation projects.
  • Review new and existing systems for adequacy of business and IT controls, security, operational considerations, data conversion, and project management assessment.
  • Engagement risk management: quality assurance through file review, engagement planning, development, and monitoring, engagement profitability – Simultaneously deliver multiple client engagements of varying size, scope, and complexity.
  • Business development: take a proactive role in the business community to increase awareness of our services and commitment to the local market, develop and mature relationships with internal staff and clients, develop proposals, identify, and pursue opportunities to increase our penetration in the public and private sector.
  • Service Delivery: conduct research, perform technical testing, write reports, conduct interviews, and communicate regularly with clients and resources.
  • Guide field engagement teams and coach and mentor junior staff members.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or MBA degree in Business or Finance, ideally with a major in accounting.
  • Completion of one or a combination of the following designations: CPA, CFA, CISA, CRISC. A CPA or equivalent accounting designation is highly recommended.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in assessing information technology or business process risk, ideally within a large consulting practice.
  • Strong understanding and experience with business process, operations, and controls-based audits (SOC1, SOC2) is preferred.
  • Experience within an external audit practice auditing clients in the Asset Management Financial Services industries. A strong understanding of business processes associated with custodial/fund administration service providers, banks, or insurance companies is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, being able to express insights both written and orally.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of business risks and audit risks.
  • High level of personal confidence, enthusiasm, and drive.
Salary Range

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
