Indigenous Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Indigenous Advisor to join our team at Queen's University. As an Indigenous Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal success of Indigenous students.
Key Responsibilities:- Counsel students regarding educational, career, or vocational issues, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.
- Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support.
- Coordinate the provision of counseling and information services to students, parents, and teachers, ensuring that all parties are informed and supported.
- Refer students to other specialized services when required, ensuring that they receive the support they need to succeed.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and workshops to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Develop guidance and counseling programs that meet the unique needs of Indigenous students, promoting their academic and personal success.
- Arrange for recruitment of graduating students by employers, ensuring that they are prepared for the workforce and have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers involved with clients, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education, counseling, or social work.
- 5 years or more of experience working with Indigenous students, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success.
- Hybrid work arrangement, with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
- 35 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust as needed.
