Dietetic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dietetic Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our Nutrition and Food Services department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the nutritional well-being of our patients.
Under the direction of the Manager of Nutrition & Food Services and in collaboration with the Clinical Dietitian, you will conduct nutrition risk screening, identify patients at risk, and refer them to the Dietitian. You will also be responsible for completing various menu management activities, including visiting patients through meal rounds and inputting meal and/or nourishment information into the computerized menu management system.
In addition, you will provide straight-forward nutrition education to patients and their families. You will work closely with the Clinical Dietitian to develop and implement nutrition care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in food and nutrition, preferably with a certification in Food Service Supervision or a related field. You should have excellent communication, teaching, time management, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Computer skills are preferred, and knowledge of the "Vision" menu management system is an asset. You should also be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
HoursThis is a permanent, part-time position, working 45 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and BenefitsThe successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $23.80 - $27.05, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
