The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communicable Disease Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Public Health department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to prevent and control the spread of communicable diseases in our territory.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement communicable disease policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines in accordance with Northwest Territories legislation and approved standards.
- Provide direction to frontline healthcare professionals on communicable disease management, surveillance, control, treatment, education, and prevention programming.
- Coordinate communicable disease management in accordance with surveillance, control, treatment, education, and prevention programming for all communicable diseases in the territory.
- Provide consultative services for regional public health service programs and community health centres to ensure continuity of care within the program's assigned population.
- Collaborate with the Chief Public Health Officer to ensure effective communication and coordination of public health services.
- Baccalaureate in Nursing or a related field, plus five (5) years recent experience in a clinical healthcare setting, with four (4) years of experience in Public Health or Community Health.
- Eligibility for registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN).
