Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at the Government of Northwest Territories.
About the RoleThe Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for implementing environmental public health programs in various settings, including restaurants, child care facilities, rental housing, water treatment plants, and waste disposal sites.
Key Responsibilities- Implement environmental public health programs for drinking water, food service and supply, communicable disease investigation and control, air quality, and solid and liquid waste disposal.
- Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent and control environmental health hazards.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery.
- Lead program areas or files to build expertise and ensure continuity of program delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will require a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors, and two (2) years of direct experience in the delivery of environmental public health programs.
