Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at the Government of Northwest Territories. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in implementing environmental public health programs to protect the health and wellbeing of our communities.
Key Responsibilities- Implement environmental public health programs for drinking water, food service and supply, communicable disease investigation and control, air quality, solid and liquid waste disposal, community and environmental sanitation, recreational water safety, tobacco control, personal services, disaster/emergency preparedness and response, injury prevention, environmental planning and impact analysis, and control of environmental contaminants.
- Deliver programs in various settings, including restaurants, child care facilities, rental housing, water treatment plants, waste disposal sites, work camps, tourist facilities, and public and non-public spaces.
- Lead program areas or files to build expertise and ensure continuity of program delivery within the Environmental Health Unit.
To be successful in this role, you will require a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors, and two (2) years of direct experience in the delivery of environmental public health programs.
