Job Summary:

We are seeking a Recreation Assistant to join our team at Hilltop House Long Term Care Facility in Squamish, BC.

This role involves working in a team-based environment to carry out recreation programs in consultation with the Recreation Therapist. Key responsibilities include:

- Organizing and overseeing patients/residents on outings,
- Coordinating the portering of patients/residents to and from activities,
- Demonstrating techniques of recreation activities,
- Carrying out prescribed adaptations to recreation activities to enable patients/residents to maintain maximum potential for independence as per the instruction of the Recreation Therapist,
- Providing functional direction to volunteers,
- Evaluating and reporting relevant observations of patients' progress/participation to the Recreation Therapist or interdisciplinary team,
- Organizing furnishings and equipment for designated activities,
- Maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies.

About Hilltop House:

Hilltop House is a 86-bed long term care facility for seniors with complex needs, providing home-like care for its permanent residents, as well as respite care, a community bathing program and adult day care for seniors. We are located in Squamish, BC, approximately one hour north of the Vancouver lower mainland and accessible on the scenic Sea to Sky highway.

Qualifications:

- Completion of a recognized Recreation Diploma Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience,
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing,
- Ability to teach,
- Ability to organize work,
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position,
- Ability to operate related equipment,
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
