The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Southern Health-Santé Sud plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within a people-centered approach. As an LPN, you will apply the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health. This includes working to the full scope of practice, engaging in ongoing education, and maintaining competency congruent with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Manitoba Code of Ethics, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The LPN exercises initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods, and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is essential.
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary for Acute, Transitional, Personal Care Home (PCH), Primary Health Care, Public Health-Healthy Living, and Home Care.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is also required.
  • Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification is necessary.
  • Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC) certification is also required.
  • Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba, and Code of Ethics is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that supports quality services, quality improvement, and staff empowerment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use an analytical and inquiring approach to problem-solving while contributing to program improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions autonomously.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to meet the demands of the position.
  • Able to effectively perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
