Job Title: Shop Manager

First Student Canada-Transco is seeking a skilled Shop Manager to oversee maintenance operations and supervise shop staff in Ottawa, ON.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and communicate vehicle availability with dispatch and operations personnel.
  • Directly supervise shop staff, including hiring, training, and performance reviews, while working closely with the Location Manager and Region Maintenance Management.
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Company requirements, maintaining a safe environment and adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Review repair orders, order fuel and parts, and subcontract repair work as needed.
  • Initiate and implement projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Supervise bus fueling and arrange services for building and ground keeping.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience, CDL Operator's license with required endorsements.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, computer skills, and industry experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment.
