Instructor of Peace and Conflict Studies

This part-time position involves teaching Peace and Conflict Studies 1202. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of non-violent social change strategies and principles. They will analyze power/knowledge dynamics and encourage critical engagement with how societies establish values and enact social change. In-depth understanding or experience teaching social movement theory is essential. Students will be introduced to non-violent social movements as instruments of progressive change, and a series of international case studies of successful non-violent social justice activism will be presented and explored. Students will examine the challenges and advantages of non-violence as a method of achieving social change.
Required Qualifications:- Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Peace Studies, or a related field.
- Extensive education in non-violent conflict resolution as applied to models of social change.
- Preference will be given to candidates with non-violent communication skills and training.
- Comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of social movement theory.
- Demonstrated post-secondary teaching ability.
- A commitment to and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Experience in applying models of non-violent, collaborative dispute resolution or conflict resolution in real-world contexts.
- Availability to teach Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 to 6:00 pm, for 3 weeks in February 2025.
