Instructor - Faculty of Business & Professional Studies (Communication)

Capilano University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach CMNS 100 Introduction to Workplace Communication in the Faculty of Business and Professional Studies.
The successful candidate will lead the course in developing students' skills around writing clear and organized correspondence, common workplace documents, and job-search related documents. In the School of Communication, we pride ourselves on the balance we offer our students between practical communication skills and theoretical courses based on the theories of communication.
As a non-regular faculty member associated with the Faculty of Business and Professional studies, you will be instrumental in helping learners to communicate effectively, with clarity and concision. The successful candidate will show a strong commitment to mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach CMNS 100 Introduction to Workplace Communication to various Capilano University students.
- Develop students' skills around writing clear and organized correspondence, common workplace documents, and job-search related documents.
- Mentor students from diverse populations and circumstances.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Communications, Publishing, English or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience working in media, journalism, communications or related industries.
- Post-secondary teaching experience with the ability to foster a classroom environment that provides a supportive learning setting for students.
- Experience/knowledge of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles in an educational practice and environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD. in Communication or related discipline and/or, five years of relevant professional experience in a field related to communication.
- Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PDIP), Certification in University Teaching, or Credential.
- Experience in online teaching or equivalent.
- Lived Indigenous experience to enhance learning in the classrooms.
