Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled HACCP System Specialist - Quality Assurance to join our team in Ottawa and Mississauga facilities. This is a full-time position that requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain plant-wide documentation control processes to meet audit requirements.
  • Create, modify, and maintain procedures, and organize the facilities' shared drive.
  • Lead the organization's efforts to develop, implement, and maintain its HACCP System, including all forms, pre-requisite programs, SOPs, and checklists.
  • Ensure all pre-requisite and form requirements are being met.
  • Communicate any updates or revisions to the HACCP system.
  • Organize and/or conduct policy and procedural training for plant personnel.
  • Participate in government audits, supporting the coordination/preparation of audit information, communicating non-compliances to individual departments, and tracking non-conformances, responses, and corrective actions.
  • Analyze processes, identify trends and anomalies, and continuously evaluate plant programs for improvement.
  • Perform internal audit standards to ensure compliance to the HACCP Plan on the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Team.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance, Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related science field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with written Food Safety and quality programs in a food manufacturing plant, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HACCP certification with knowledge and working experience in a food production environment with HACCP, GFSI, food legislation, and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate program improvements.
  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong team-building, interpersonal, and developmental skills.
  • Strong customer-service focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Work Environment:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and occasionally climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The ideal candidate will also have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel between Ottawa and Mississauga facilities.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is estimated to be $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
