Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Tissue/Eye Bank Technologist to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the retrieval, processing, preservation, and distribution of human donor tissue.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of duties related to tissue retrieval, processing, and distribution, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Process documentation for potential donors, liaise with various individuals to review medical history, and assess tissue suitability for transplant.
- Enter data into a computerized tissue inventory system, perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Participate in hospital committees and research projects as assigned.
- Two years' post-secondary education in a biological science field or certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks or the Eye Bank Association of America.
- Two years' recent experience in a Tissue or Eye Bank or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Eligibility for certification with the American Association of Tissue Banks and/or the Eye Bank Association of America.
