Job Title: Assessment Officer

About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to fill multiple Assessment Officer positions in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. As an Assessment Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting residential, farm, and commercial properties, recording land and building characteristics, and updating property and ownership information using computer software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and record property characteristics for valuation, classification, and assignment of liability to taxation
  • Update property and ownership information using computer software
  • Attend boards of revision and defend assessments
  • Respond to assessment enquiries from the public and municipal government councils
  • Prepare and present defense of residential and non-residential assessments at Boards of Revision and Municipal Board hearings
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as business administration, agriculture, finance, valuation, appraisal, or construction
  • Professional work experience in agribusiness, agronomy, building construction, mortgage lending, property assessment administration, building inspection, real estate, or real estate appraisal
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
