About the Role

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Sponsorship Development Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative sponsorship strategies to achieve revenue targets for key Divisional projects, events, and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sponsorship strategies to secure private sector cash sponsorships and government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Negotiate and close significant sponsorships with key corporate decision-makers and develop final agreements and legal contracts.
  • Assist with pre-event, on-site, and post-event benefit fulfillment and contractual obligations with sponsorships and grant funders.
  • Cultivate and retain strategic relationships with corporate representatives, local businesses, politicians, and internal senior-level management.
  • Research foundations, corporate, and government grant opportunities and develop targeted prospecting lists.
  • Develop enticing presentations to effectively integrate corporate partners and their marketing objectives into Divisional projects, events, and programs.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in special events, event management, or a related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Considerable experience in securing major cash sponsorships and grants.
  • Considerable experience in benefits fulfillment and client integration for event sponsorships, grants, and fundraising.
  • Highly developed client management skills and ability to integrate sponsors and funders to Divisional projects, events, and programs.
  • Excellent partnership development and stewardship skills with key stakeholders within both private and public sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to effectively support all stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and ability to take initiative and thrive in a high-stress creative environment.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to establish performance objectives and measures to continuously improve performance.
  • Highly developed MS Office Suite skills.
