Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Highway Maintenance Worker Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy equipment used in highway maintenance work. This includes performing labor-intensive duties, maintaining and operating equipment, and ensuring that the Highway Maintenance Program is delivered according to contract specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Team Alignment: Actively seek increased responsibilities, demonstrate adaptability, and build effective working relationships with others.
- Work Management: Demonstrate personal commitment to servicing and maintaining company equipment, understand and comply with labor laws, specifications, and organizational policies.
- Highway Maintenance: Ensure appropriate signage and traffic control devices are in place, respond to emergency situations, and perform labor-intensive duties for snow and ice control, roadside maintenance, and road surface maintenance.
- Operating and Labor: Operate equipment, perform labor-intensive duties, inspect, maintain, and operate equipment to company standards, and ensure vehicles, equipment, facilities, yard, and keys are secured as per company standards and policy.
- Job Management: Demonstrate versatility in operating, understanding, and willingness to learn how to properly operate various pieces of heavy equipment, complete required documentation, and understand and comply with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) standards.
- Valid Class 1 (preferred) or Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement.
- Clean and valid driver's abstract.
- Experience in snowplow operation – minimum 50 hours behind the wheel.
- Experience and aptitude for operation and minor maintenance of light, medium, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate (preferred).
- Must reside within 30 minutes of assigned shop.
