Leadership Opportunity in Community Psychiatry

Company Overview:

Manitoba Health is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team and fill a crucial labour shortage in Manitoba.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Psychiatrist to provide community services to individuals with severe mental illness disorders, addictions, and intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Conducting psychiatric and medical assessments, treatment, and management of program participants within their scope of expertise or liaising with appropriate services when out of scope.
  2. Participating in planning and coordination of comprehensive team services for program participants.
  3. Providing psychiatric support to the HUB as needed on a consult basis.
  4. Clinical supervision, education, and training of other staff.
  5. Development, maintenance, and supervision of medication and psychiatric and medical treatment policies and procedures.
  6. Reviewing, following up, and ordering blood work, in conjunction with Team Lead/Nursing, for assigned participants.
  7. Arranging for clients to be admitted to hospital when required and liaising with hospital staff while the ACT client is in hospital.
  8. Expectation to provide input and leadership, in conjunction with Team Lead, in all aspects regarding participant recovery and community living as required.
  9. Participating in development and maintenance of working relationships with other Shared Health Manitoba and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Mental Health services and other government agencies.
  10. Expectation to provide supervision to residents and medical students who may be on rotation, elective, or community exposure, etc.
  11. Participating in a variety of evaluative measures and research studies as well as supervising psychiatric residents and other medical students.
  12. Equitable participation in an on-call rota.
  13. Attendance and participation in FACT staff meetings and Community Psychiatry Program meetings.

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year (estimated)

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Psychiatry and have training and experience in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery models, as well as clinical experience with severe mental illness disorders, addictions, and intellectual disabilities.
