About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Infant Feeding Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our Early Years team, you will play a vital role in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding and healthy infant and young child feeding practices throughout the region.

The successful candidate will collaborate with our team to provide timely and effective support to families and front-line staff, promoting evidence-based and trauma-informed infant feeding practices. You will engage with local community and healthcare partners to build capacity and promote best practices related to infant feeding in the prenatal and postnatal period.

This is a permanent full-time position, requiring work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the area.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related discipline, such as Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Registered Nursing. You will also need to have International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Certification or be able to obtain it within 3 years of employment.

Minimum one year of related experience is required, with a strong background in providing direct breastfeeding and infant feeding support and education. Experience in public health or community settings is an asset, as is knowledge of the Baby-Friendly Initiative and health equity principles.

Hours and Compensation

This is a 75-hour bi-weekly position, with a competitive hourly rate of $32.32 - $40.61. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
