Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Lighting Artist to join our team. As a key member of our art department, you will be responsible for guiding the visual style and quality of lighting across our projects, collaborating with art directors, designers, and other leaders to bring our games to life.
Key Responsibilities- Visual Leadership: Collaborate with the art director and design team to develop a cohesive visual style and lighting approach for our games.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists, driving the visual quality and style bar for lighting across our projects.
- Communication: Effectively communicate lighting plans and goals to stakeholders across the project, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment.
- Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with advancing technology and tools, continually improving lighting pipelines and team efficiency.
- Deliverables: Scope, schedule, and manage expectations for the lighting team, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of lighting assets.
- Performance Optimization: Proactively create content that is performant and leaves overhead for other stakeholders, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.
- Lighting Expertise: Utilize your skills in atmospheric effects, practical sources, time of day, color, and cinematography to support the needs of the project.
- 4+ years of lighting experience in the game industry.
- 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Shipped 2+ AAA titles as a lighting artist.
- Solid proficiency in Unreal, especially with Lumen.
- Deep understanding of PBR, lighting systems, and rendering technology.
- Excellent understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows as they relate to game development.
- Ability to initiate visual direction without a specific concept or design.
- High level of mentorship abilities and willingness to support and train other members on the team.
- Desire to work in and support a diverse and inclusive environment.
