Role Overview

Learning Tree Academy seeks a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for young children to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all children.
  • Order supplies and equipment to maintain a well-stocked and organized childcare setting.
  • Monitor children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and challenges.
  • Maintain knowledge of licensing regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers working with children.
  • Ensure the health, security, and well-being of children by planning and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Organize activities for school-age children before and after regular school hours.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
Requirements
  • A college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
  • 1 to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
Work Settings and Conditions
  • Childcare centre.
  • Permanent position with 32 to 35 hours per week.
  • Work language: English.
