About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team at Elfi First School. As an integral part of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of our young students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Implementation: Assist early childhood educators in planning and implementing programs that promote the overall development of children.
  • Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of children's progress and development.
  • Engagement and Activities: Encourage children to express their creativity through various activities, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Guidance and Support: Provide guidance and support to children in developing essential life skills, including eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Environment Preparation: Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children during lunch and rest periods.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with licensing regulations to ensure compliance and maintain a safe environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges faced by children and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Environment Maintenance: Plan and maintain an environment that prioritizes the health, security, and well-being of children.
Personal Qualities and Experience
  • Reliability: Demonstrate a strong sense of reliability and responsibility in your work.
  • Team Player: Showcase your ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience: Possess at least 7 months of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of childcare principles and practices.
  • Support for Diverse Groups: Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for persons with disabilities, newcomers, and refugees, as well as Indigenous workers.
  • Employment Type: This is a permanent position.
  • Language of Work: English is the primary language of communication.
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week.
