Job Title: Power Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Systems Engineer to join our team in North America. As a key member of our Renewables & Power Grids group, you will play a critical role in accelerating the interconnection and injection of renewable projects to the grid.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain steady-state, dynamic, and short-circuit models for renewable and conventional generation resources, including solar, storage, wind, and gas turbines.
  • Perform model benchmarking analysis and system-wide power flow analysis, including steady-state, dynamic stability, and short-circuit analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for grid reliability and energy markets, providing technical guidance and support to stakeholders.
  • Attend industry stakeholder meetings and stay up-to-date with market changes, developments, and policy updates.
  • Contribute to the team's research and innovation activities, developing new techniques and analytical tools to enhance team performance.
  • Cultivate new customer relationships and assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Qualifications (SOQs).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • In-depth understanding of electric power systems and renewable energy fundamentals.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with power-system tools PSS/E, Power-world, and PSCAD.
  • Direct work experience in transmission and/or distribution planning-related analyses, including resource interconnection.
  • Knowledge of North American RTO/ISO markets, grid interconnection, and corresponding planning practices.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active PE License.
  • Graduate-level degree with emphasis on Electric Power Systems.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with power system analysis software packages, including TSAT, TARA, ASPEN, PSLF, CYME, ETAP, Synergie Electric, and/or DIGSILENT, EMTP-RV, PSLF, AUTOCAD AUTODESK.
  • Track record of project management and/or successful completion of project management-related trainings.
  • Minimum three (3+) years of experience in resource interconnection working with a consultant.
  • Working knowledge of automation scripts, such as Python.
