About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist - Data and Business Analytics to join our Deputy Chief Risk Office's Analytics team. As a key member of our team, you will apply advanced analytical skills and knowledge of Canada's financial and mortgage sectors to analytics activities initiatives at CMHC, including data visualization, data analysis, machine learning or predictive models, risk insights and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze business data to identify, assess, and report on potential business risks.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends to identify potential risks, including credit, market, and liquidity risk.
  • Create and maintain risk dashboards to provide real-time insights to senior management.
  • Prepare and present detailed risk reports to senior management, providing clear and concise recommendations for action.
  • Lead data analytics projects from ideation to implementation, including project planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and opportunities that can be solved with data analytics.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, statistics or computer science.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in business risk analytics, financial risk analytics, data science (e.g., machine learning) or related field.
  • Strong command in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL and experience using tools/packages for visualization such as Power BI, R shiny, Python dash.
  • Experience working with big data ecosystems such as Spark, HDFS, and familiarity with cloud services.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical finance and risk management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and project management skills.
