Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide expert care leadership in a specific specialty area. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing nursing practice, improving client outcomes, and promoting quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Practice Leadership
  • Exemplify and promote excellence in nursing practice through involvement with selected client groups.
  • Utilize practice opportunities to provide expert nursing consultation for clients or groups of clients.
  • Influence nursing practice by participating in client care advocacy issues.
  • Act as a role model for professional practice by integrating all components of the professional role.
Consultation and Collaboration
  • Provide consultation to primary care providers, community groups, and other service providers in the area of specialty.
  • Collaborate with Directors, managers, educators, and other staff in the delivery of care.
  • Participate in the development of client programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
Education and Research
  • Provide leadership to nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team in identifying learning needs of patients/residents and staff.
  • Contribute to an atmosphere conducive to learning and provide leadership to clinical nurse educators in developing programs.
  • Support nursing research and health services research to promote clinical knowledge development and research-based clinical practice.
System Redesign and Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the redesign of systems and processes to enhance client/population outcomes.
  • Build capacity and sustainability of individual and organizational systems.
Professional Expertise
  • Provide professional expertise to health care professionals external to the organization on matters related to nursing practice.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Five years' recent related nursing experience with three years' recent, related experience in a clinical area relevant to the area of specialty.
  • Same practice qualifications as a staff nurse in the area required.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
