We are seeking an experienced leader to oversee the operations and day-to-day financial management of our Bylaw Enforcement and Business Licensing services. This role plays a key part in maintaining community standards and supporting local businesses with regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise a team of bylaw enforcement officers, licensing staff, and administrative support personnel.
- Ensure adherence to community regulations and standards, fostering a safe and harmonious environment.
- Exercise primary managerial oversight for escalated complaints and public concerns, handling matters professionally and tactfully.
- Engage with the public to provide educational information about bylaw-related issues, enhancing awareness and comprehension.
- Cultivate positive relationships within the community through transparent communication and effective information dissemination.
- Provide strategic guidance to licensing staff to ensure efficient administration of the City's licensing initiative.
- Collaborate with the division manager to address intricate issues or matters affecting the community.
- Create and present reports to Council and Committees, showcasing insights and offering recommendations.
- Contribute valuable input on changes in policies, revisions to bylaws, and administrative affairs related to bylaw enforcement and licensing services.
- Oversee the dog licensing program and ticket disputes, supporting impartial and equitable adjudication.
- Facilitate efficient debt collection processes for all departments involved in bylaw enforcement activities.
- Develop plans, schedules, and management strategies for shifts, vacations, and extended operating hours, ensuring continuous coverage seven days a week.
- Draw upon your comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, City bylaws, policies, and procedures to guide staff in making informed decisions and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Public Safety, Public Administration, or Criminology.
- Minimum of three years of progressive professional experience, including experience at the supervisory or junior management level.
- Specialized training in municipal law and regulation, law enforcement, and/or community safety.
