Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Inuksuk Infant Development Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This includes supervising staff, training, and volunteers, leading activities, and assisting with record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Lead activities that promote learning and development, such as storytelling, singing, and outings to local points of interest.
  • Assist with record-keeping and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Encourage children to express their creativity through various media, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Plan and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Criminal record check.
  • Dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, judgement, reliability, team player, and values and ethics.
Experience:
  • 5 years or more of experience in a related field.
  • Permanent position.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Language of work: English.
