Job Title: Director of Public Works

Job Summary:

The Director of Public Works is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Public Works department, including the Transfer Station and Water and Wastewater departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall strategic direction and leadership for the functions within the Public Works department.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals, build a positive organizational structure, and deliver excellent service to the community.
  • Provide sound administrative support, information, and strategic advice to the CAO and to Council through the CAO.
  • Manage, recruit, train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise employees engaged for the purposes of providing municipal works and services.
  • Prepare and submit to the CAO the annual capital and operating budget for the Public Works Department.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of equipment typical to a municipal public works maintenance operation.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of techniques required in the construction and maintenance of roads, drainage ditches, buildings, etc.
