About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead our organization's vision, driving artistic excellence and community engagement. As Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing Gallery operations, advancing our strategic priorities, and fostering strong relationships with artists, community partners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inspirational leadership, reflecting organizational values and building upon strengths and successes.
  • Serve as the public face for our organization, effectively advocating for arts and culture, and building relationships with community and stakeholder groups.
  • In collaboration with senior staff, develop the RMG's artistic vision, direction, and identity, overseeing the acquisition of Permanent Collection works and stewardship.
  • Maintain an open dialogue with Gallery members and other key stakeholders, nurturing and cultivating positive relationships to support our collaborative approach.
  • Support staff in developing and realizing a year-round schedule of exhibitions, learning programs, and public events to grow attendance, while identifying, centring, and amplifying equity-deserving voices in planning, programs, and collections.
Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • A minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in arts and culture, including fundraising, operational management, strategic planning, program management, and facilities management.
  • A demonstrated track record of cultivating relationships with diverse constituencies and building public support.
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with artists, community partners, donors, funders, and volunteers.
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.
  • An understanding of current and future trends in the GLAM sector and broader cultural landscape.
