Addictions Counselor

We are searching for one part-time counselor. We want a qualified individual to join our team and grow with us.
**Responsibilities**:
- Welcoming, admission and discharge
- Provide counselling and conduct crisis management, and interventions as needed
- Developing and facilitating groups for clients and/or their families as required.
- Assist clients with individualize comprehensive Discharge Plans.
- Engaging clients in acceptable recreational and social activities in the community
- Maintaining client records, shift reports, clinical notes
- Client Intake Procedures
- Personal and Belonging Searches
- Monitoring the residence
- Conduct urine screening for new clients and at intervals throughout the course of treatment
- Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities by keeping up-to-date professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars and networking with colleagues and ensuring all credentials are up to date through continuing education and recertification with any governing bodies or colleges you belong to.
**Qualifications**:
- Compassionate, caring demeanor, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
- Ability to Supervise 10-20 Clients
- Ability to assess complex situations and make appropriate decisions independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of substance abuse and recovery issues
- Standard first aid certificate, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Intervention training or willingness to obtain at hiring
- Ability to work effectively with people from various abilities, life situations and cultural backgrounds
- Minimum education: college diploma specific to addictions and mental health training and an addiction counselling certificate (eg: ICADC from CACCF).
- Knowledge of social work, psychology and addiction counselling best practices and a proven ability to work in an intensive, residential treatment environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an addictions counsellor.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
