Job Summary:

The Nursing Student Assistant will provide direct personal support to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing basic care needs for up to 10 patients each, including activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, and feeding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct personal support to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Document activities of daily living, such as intake and output, and relevant communication for patients in which they have provided care for.
  • Report any clinical concerns to the direct supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program of studies.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively communicate with the inter-professional healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the use of technology.
  • Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring from a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
Location:

Humber River Regional Hospital - Wilson Site.

Hours of Work:

Rotating shifts, 8 or 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekends.
