Birthing Unit Nursing Student Extern Role

Humber River Health is seeking a Graduate Nursing Student Extern to join our dynamic team in the Birthing Unit. As a Graduate Nursing Student Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment while working under the supervision of our experienced nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct personal support to patients in the Birthing Unit
  • Assist with the provision and documentation of basic care for patients
  • Work under the supervision of regulated healthcare providers in accordance with department policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Nursing student in completion of their final year of study in a College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) approved Baccalaureate Nursing (BScN or BN) program and Practical Nursing (PN) program
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring from a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse
