As a Vice President within Teneo Strategic Communications, you will be a key member of our account teams, responsible for executing holistic programs and communications initiatives that support our clients' goals. This may involve corporate communications and investor relations programs, executive positioning campaigns, media relations strategies, and issues and crisis management.

The role is based in Calgary, with a requirement of at least three days a week in the office. You will work on Calgary-based client accounts and support client work in the Toronto, Montréal, and global offices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare client-ready written content, strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&As, briefing memos, and distributed media materials.
  • Manage messages and coordinate client program activities.
  • Serve as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members, capable of overseeing others.
  • Contribute to the Business Development process, including proposal development and pitch participation.
  • Support operational requirements in the office, including Teneo marketing events and business development activities.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, media, investor relations, or a relevant field.
  • Strong track record of managing client relationships.
  • Experience managing large teams, with a focus on mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to see complex projects through to execution.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape and a demonstrated ability to engage with journalists or foster journalist relationships.
  • Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex and sensitive mandates.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and capital markets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms and media and monitoring tools, such as Meltwater.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
