About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Mechanic with First Student, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Ensuring work orders are completed accurately.
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services.

Diesel Technician Qualifications

  • A valid driver's license is required; willingness to obtain a B license while employed – We provide training.
  • At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • Possession of a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses are provided.
