Community and Program Coordinator

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community and Program Facilitator to join our team at the City of Red Deer. As a key member of our community development team, you will be responsible for facilitating and delivering community and program development opportunities that enhance the quality of life in our city.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work with citizens and community organizations to develop and promote recreation, parks, and culture programs and services. You will lead in the effective delivery of and accountability for these programs and services, and provide facilitation and professional program and administrative guidance to individuals, groups, and organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and deliver community and program development opportunities that meet the needs of our citizens and community organizations.
- Lead in the effective delivery of and accountability for recreation, parks, and culture programs and services.
- Provide facilitation and professional program and administrative guidance to individuals, groups, and organizations.
- Support the Arts and Culture organizations and groups in our community through the administration of the Community Culture Development Grant and through capacity building facilitation.
Requirements:
- University undergraduate degree with major concentration in recreation or physical education, arts, culture, or community development, plus two years relevant professional recreation, parks, or culture experience.
- Diploma in recreation, physical education, arts, culture, or community development from a post-secondary institute, plus four years relevant recreation, parks, or culture experience.
- Sound knowledge of the philosophies, principles, and practices of public leisure services.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to function effectively in a fast-paced challenging environment.
- Strong background in recreation, parks, and culture development, community engagement, facilitation, and development.
- Demonstrates effective, proactive, and creative approaches in the design, development, and execution of strategies and implementation plans.
- Demonstrates highly developed partnership and alliance-building skills.
- Works independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage performance, coach, and guide staff and/or volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learning and on-the-job training.
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate of $46.97 to $49.44.
- 75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend work required.
