About the Role

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for implementing and managing SGRE EHS programs at various assigned wind farms under O&M contract.

This role will support the design and/or implementation of safety guidelines and instructions for occupational safety, fire prevention, dangerous goods, and emergency management.

The EHS Specialist will work closely with the organization to identify hazards and control measures for tasks and work activities.

Relocation will not be offered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate overall planning of projects and decide on resource allocation.
  • Develop, propose, and implement function-specific EHS guidelines, processes, and methods.
  • Compile and advise on instructions and regulations, ensuring effective communication to all employees.
  • Plan the rollout of Safety programs for the assigned unit.
  • Gather data and analyze statistics regarding the success of EHS Management measures.
  • Support or prepare regular external reporting for Occupational Safety authorities or internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain operational contact with external Safety authorities.
  • Stay up-to-date with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Train management and employees on EHS topics.
  • Facilitate the investigation of EHS incidents in the assigned area.
  • Coordinate with customer and sub-contractor representatives in EHS matters.
  • Provide on-site support to work locations, including climbing turbines for inspections or investigations.
  • Possess the ability to work at height and successfully climb wind turbines for work and basic rescue in accordance with Global Wind Organization training standards.
  • Lead and manage initiatives from self and/or SGRE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS Education, Occupational Health, or similar.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of relevant experience in EHS in the Wind Industry.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple areas of the organization.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others in working towards a common goal.
  • Ability to work in cross-departmental teams and garner support for EHS-related activities.
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience and comfortability with presenting in front of small and large groups.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Travel required up to 50%.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada and able to clear customs requirements for travel internationally for work and/or training in the USA.
