Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our HSE department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and clients. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and in promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct health and safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors, ensuring they understand safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents and injuries, and handle related claims in a fair and timely manner.
  • Plan and coordinate health and safety training sessions, including orientations, WHMIS training, and CPR/First Aid training.
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations, and communicate them to site management for action.
  • Provide coaching and support to project managers, supervisors, and workers on HSE requirements.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and improving HSE programs and processes.
  • Prepare monthly safety performance reports for management, highlighting trends and recommending initiatives to reduce incidents.
Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of practical health and safety experience and on-site industrial expertise.
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Certificate of Recognition (COR) is required.
  • Valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Auditor qualifications and experience.
  • Knowledgeable in occupational health and safety legislation, along with the construction, industrial, and/or mining regulations.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance legislation and the general management of waste, water, air, chemicals, etc., related to the construction, industrial and/or mining operations.
  • Knowledge of COR requirements, driver training programs, transportation sector.
