Mobile Crisis Response Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Mobile Integrated Crisis Response team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide person-centered and recovery-oriented care to individuals with mental illness and/or substance use issues.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to crisis situations by assessing clients' needs and providing emergency on-site assessment and intervention.
- Collaborate with police officers and other emergency providers to assess, manage, and decide the most appropriate intervention.
- Provide outreach, short-term treatment, crisis intervention, stabilization, and referrals to clients and their families.
- Assess clients' needs and available services by developing treatment options and referring to appropriate community treatment alternatives.
- Facilitate treatment by sharing care plans with community resources and mental health professionals.
- Screen and intervene in urgent response situations by acquiring background information and making initial assessments.
- Provide medication management and education to clients and their families.
- Consult and collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues and adjust care plans as needed.
- Document assessments, care plans, and interventions according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in research and quality improvement activities to identify client care issues and improve practices.
- Provide health education and advocacy to clients and their families.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Two years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, and legislation and government policies related to mental health and substance use services.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families, and members of the interprofessional care team.
- Ability to promote person-centered care and educate clients and families about topics essential to their health care and well-being.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with team members, and use factual information to support nursing decisions and actions.
