We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physician Clinical Administrative Assistant to join our team at Appletree Medical Group. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in their daily activities.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Assist in performing triage, taking patient histories, and conducting limited physical examinations when needed.
- Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures, optimizing the clinic's schedule and minimizing patient wait times.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow up on patient care plans.
- Ensure consistent inventory levels through daily stocking of exam rooms.
- Ensure a clean & quiet environment by cleaning/sanitizing exam rooms, common spaces, foyers, bathrooms.
- Proper registration of the patient administratively (i.e. reception, scheduling, collecting payments, etc.)
- Basic IT troubleshooting, as needed.
- Accompany healthcare providers during patient visits and document patient encounters in real-time.
- Document patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Prepare and update patient charts, ensuring they are current and complete.
- Assist with order entry, including prescriptions, referrals, and diagnostic tests as directed by the provider.
- Assisting health care providers with medical procedures such as wound care, suture removal, and specimen collection.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and provide post-operative care instructions to patients.
- Females: Perform Pap examination under supervision, specimen collection and documentation
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, managers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care and clinic operations.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and other quality improvement initiatives.
- Completion of a medical degree.
- Completion of MCCQE, USMLE, and/or NAC OSCE is considered an asset.
- Previous residency interviews in the US or Canada is considered an asset.
- Recent medical experience (within the last 5 years) is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills in English with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals (spoken, written, reading and comprehension); other languages are considered an asset.
- Must be permanently eligible to work in Canada (i.e., Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen) or have a Work Permit valid beyond 12 months (no sponsorships).
- Typing speed of 40WPM for data entry.
- Committed, reliable, and flexible regarding scheduling of shifts (i.e., days, evenings, and weekends).
- Flexibility regarding working at multiple clinic/office locations in the city.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Enthusiasm.
- Respectful of others.
- Passion for personal learning, training and ongoing development.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care protocols.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
- Basic IT knowledge and familiarity with computer systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic healthcare setting.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
- Prior experience in a clinical administrative role is an asset.
- $17.05/hour, plus additional bonuses based on individual services.
- Must meet training milestones in the first three weeks of employment including all exams and certificates.
- Following a 3-Month probationary period the Physician Clinical Administrative Assistant is eligible for a Performance Review.
- Following the successful completion of this review, they will have the opportunity to train in one or more specialty programs (e.g. Diabetes Program, Travel Medicine, Allergy Testing, Foot Care, and Wellbaby).
- Working in any of these programs will earn the Physician Clinical Administrative Assistant an additional 'per service/task' bonus, on top of their usual hourly rate of pay and basic bonuses.
- Vision, dental, medical, and paramedical services, with eligibility beginning at 6 months of continuous full time employment.
